Profile: Research Scientist (Ph.D. 1998) and Civil Engineer with significant background in numerical modelling (finite element method) of industrial processes, structures, constitutive modelling of complex materials of nonlinear behaviour, coupled problems (for example – thermo-mechanical, thermo-fluid, agent based) and applied mathematics;

Education and Training: 1976-1980, M.Sc in Civil Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland major: engineering structures, theory of structures 1989-1993, post-graduate study in Institute for Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences, 1997 Ph.D., Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences

Currently – from October 2010 – Assistant Professor, Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Department of Computational Science, Warsaw, Poland. My current interests are modelling of TFBARS, dislocations in crystals, coupled agent-stress models applied to tissue. I am involved in forming of a computer centre “Biocentrum Ochota”.

Past: 01.01.2010 – 31.07.2010; External Visitor to the Department of Computer Science, University of Sheffield. I was working on concept of agent-stress model of tissue. 01.08.2008 - 31.12.2009, Research Associate, Computational Systems Biology, Department of Computer Science, University of Sheffield, UK – EPSRC grant "The Epitheliome: computational modelling of epithelial tissue". My task was the development of the finite strains tensegrity program. 26.06.2006 - 26.06.2008, Research Fellow in Computational Geodynamics, University of Leeds, School of Earth and Environment, Institute of Geophysics and Tectonics, Leeds, UK; EPSRC grant, development of the viscous-elastic parallel FE code for seismic cycle simulations. 01.10.2005 - 25.06.2006, Consulting work for Curran Ltd as a FE analyst (end-user Rolls-Royce) and the grant from Polish Scientific Committee for supporting the Polish participants of the EU grant "Modern Composite Materials Applied in Aerospace, Civil and Mechanical Engineering: Theoretical Modelling and Experimental Verification" - acronym MCMACM. 02.10.2002 - 30.09.2005, Research officer, University of Wales Swansea, School of Engineering, Wales, UK -EPSRC grant on casting processes, development of the thermo-mechanical FEA code and process simulations. 1990-2004, Assistant, Senior Assistant, Assistant Professor (in Polish "Adiunkt"), Institute for Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland. 1989-1998, Programmer (half time), Warsaw University of Technology, Civil Engineering Department, Warsaw, Poland; development of a finite element code and research projects on steel connections. 1981-1989, Structural Engineer, Building Research Institute, Warsaw, Poland; assessment of structures, structural failures.

Visiting Appointments: 1999-2001, Visiting Researcher, Luleå University of Technology, Division of Structural Mechanics, Sweden, (2 years); work on flow of bulk materials, grant from Swedish Scientific Committee and industrial projects for the Kiruna Mine LKAB and Danieli Arex, Italy. 1995-1996, Visiting Researcher, Universidad Politecnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain, Centro Internacional de Métodos Numéricos en Ingeniería, (half a year); sheet metal forming processes. 1993-1994, Visiting Researcher, Universidad Politecnica de Catalunya, Centro Internacional de Métodos Numéricos en Ingeniería, Barcelona, Spain, (one year); project about failure pressure of a nuclear containment shell (safety building).
